PostSubject: Bioshock: Infinite   Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:16 pm

Hey there. As some of you might know, Irrational games has announced. That they're working on a new Bioshock game.
This will be the third in the series, but they say that it will be almost nothing like the other games.

Well let's start by talking about the setting. Rapture, and the ocean was a big part of the first Bioshock games. But now they're totally getting rid of it. This game is taking place in "Columbia" The flying city in the sky. It was built, as a way for Uncle Sam to say: "Look what I can build you Russian fucks!" But it was also a thriving city in itself.
Not much is known about the story yet. But it's something about a detective, going back to "Columbia" To look for a girl, who has been imprisoned in the city. Since childhood ( I have no idea why, yet )

Also some incident occurred in the flying city, I also have no idea what.

Well anyways. Here's a trailer, perhaps we can discuss it here?
To be honest, although I'm a huge fan of the series, and Irrational games. I'm a bit disapointed. But I surtainly hope they'll change that oppinion with some more trailers.

Looks a lot more comic-like, but I'm certainly not disappointed due to it's new setting. Innovation is key to a successful game, and unlike BioShock 2, this follows more in the steps of BioShock 1 in the terms of mystery, mood and setting.
The only thing that will disappoint me will be that they will (And trust me when I predict that they will) keep a lot of old mechanics. 'Don't fix it if it ain't broken' some folks say. I beg to differ. Variation is key here.

Now, most people will disagree with me from what I've seen. Many people will shut it out for it's irrationality (See what I did there?), but I'll be damned if this game doesn't get review scores in the 90s and blows everyone away.
In fact, if anyone cares for it I'll bet 5$ on it.

Although the game certainly looks odd, it's going to pave a path for multiple B-games to follow like with any new fad. Actually, let me rephrase it; It's already ending a low-going fad with a bang - the steampunk fad. That is, considering this game takes place in the early 1900's.

I do hope your right.
Going from a spooky underwater setting, to a paradise in the sky will curtainly be a big change for the developers. I cant wait to see how this turns out.

Oh by the way. This is a great opportunity to work on some different movement. You'd need a jetpack or something to cross those gaps Very Happy

There are actually 'Skyrails' to be in. They go 70 MPH, and you might be fighting enemies flying in mid air for some crazy combat;

Here's a picture of driving the skyrail;

This looks´╗┐ great to me. I love the sky city, it's beautiful. Far more interesting a setting than Rapture for me. I love the design´╗┐ in this trailer.
