PostSubject: Would this work?   Sun Aug 16, 2009 5:03 pm

Basic concept:

My old concept was rather stupid, with two magnets located on the vehicle itself... I didn't think of Newton's third law (every effect has an opposite effect) when I made it. Embarassed - then again that was when I was 11-13 years old.

Quote :

[TG] Chief (alex): If I understand the concept right
[TG] Chief (alex): So will you ...
[TG] Chief (alex): Ha scales that go back and forth?
[TG] Chief (alex): oooh now I see
[TG] Chief (alex): a Magnet for Cassie
[TG] Chief (Alex) and one for the "shell"
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Huh?
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: A magnet over chassiet.
[TG] Chief (alex): But what will it be stuck in
[TG] Chief (alex): If it is stuck in chassiet
[TG] Chief (alex): it will not work
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: What?
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: It is not fixed in chassiet.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: 1 sec.
[TG] Chief (Alex): You want to decrease and increase the car's length from kjørebanen?
[TG] Chief (alex): Men cassie is on the same level all the time?
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Huh?
[TG] Chief (alex): Tell va this koseptet do
[TG] Chief (alex): What gjøøøør the
[TG] Chief (alex): In a sentence
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Can akelsererer car and get it to fly as far.
[TG] Chief (alex): Right
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: The whole box with the magnet and the room for that hydralikken to move is located, and 'secured' under chassiet.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Sounds perhaps a bit stupid in a sentence.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: But it is not so far fetched.
[TG] Chief (Alex): It is the same as placing a fan on a sailboat
[TG] Chief (alex): it will Dutte sailing
[TG] Chief (alex): but at the same time take
[TG] Chief (alex): it will be completely at rest
[TG] Chief (alex): Same as the force behind
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: You mean Newton's third law?
[TG] Chief (alex): Yes
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: The I'm thinking.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: All power has reaction.
[TG] Chief (Alex): It is a lame law

[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: The road is magnetic.
[TG] Chief (alex): son, it is
[TG] Chief (Alex): When will it go
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: The car is backed up from the road.
[TG] Chief (alex): Fully possible
[TG] Chief (alex): but it will cause many accidents
[TG] Chief (alex): And a magnet in a car
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Yes.
[TG] Chief (alex): will cause it to strike
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: As ...
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Strike?
[TG] Chief (alex): sec
[TG] Chief (alex): shall post
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: You mean the magnet will have the electronic equipment to fail?
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: I have also thought of.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: It is the shielding of the box.
[TG] Chief (alex): The "shielding"
[TG] Chief (alex): If the whole car is made of metal
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Magnetic.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: But the metal will only be nervous of a positive pole.
[TG] Chief (alex): Hilke metal is this
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Any.
[TG] Chief (Alex): It sounds ustødig out
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: That's why I need you to critisize.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: think like that.
[TG] Chief (alex): A magnet that will be solved Tonnes

[TG] Chief (alex): it should be much to stop it
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: There are.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Small, not animal magnets that can lift nearly 400kg.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Slightly larger than the palm of your hand.
[TG] Chief (alex): A magnet strong enough to lift 2 tons would be hard to isolate ...
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Sant, sant.
[TG] Chief (alex): As it's in the record
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: The thought I'm not on.
[TG] Chief (alex): the idea is reminiscent of some magnetic trains

[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Poor explanation.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: But it is the proof of concept that works like that in terms of costs and maitenence.

[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: But then there will be no off-road.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: It is bad.
[TG] Chief (alex): Indeed
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Can not run that way forever.
[TG] Chief (alex): But the magnet does not off-road
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: And parking is a bit complicated.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: At least I keep the wheels.
[TG] Chief (alex): Anti-gravity?
[TG] Chief (alex): Much better: P
[TG] Chief (alex): Magnetic waves in a particular frequency

[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Jo da, but it's not powerful at all.
[TG] Zemog [Bæck from håliday]: Can hardly a compass to point.

EDIT: Vehicle: Modified 2006 Chevrolet Impala, weight: 1776.5 kg (3,553 lbs) - 4 x 200kg weights + a magnet box thing that weights about 280kg. I have to calculate the formula again. *Ugh*

A gigantic magnet in a car would make the motor stop. The piston in the car would have trouble being smacked one way, and no problem the other way, it would make the motor unstable too. A magnet strong enough to lift 2 tons would be hard to isolate...

True. Any way to overcome this? I'm thinking of new ways to innovate and change the design making it more plausible.

That would require tracks though, rendering it useless for free travel... making it more of a tram then a car. :/

Erm one more thing... Lets say for example, if this did work, carparks would be bloody fucked as every car has the same magnetic polarity which would cause cars to move away from each other or even crush one another... Thats if you are lucky enough to get it between two cars in the first place...
And yes maybe they are electro magnetic so they can be switched on and off but driving it just like a normal vehicle is not the whole point of this... Plus who wants to pay an extra $5k on a car?
Im no genious but isn't this right? I think that we are best of sticking with 'hybrids' Cool

True, then again EM's will be shielded in covers, and will be turned off when parking... uh, if vehicles aren't parking at the same time of course. You are onto something though, I like your thinking

"And yes maybe they are electro magnetic so they can be switched on and off but driving it just like a normal vehicle is not the whole point of this... Plus who wants to pay an extra $5k on a car?"

I don't get your first point, but the second one can easily be 'engulfed' by the price of fuel a couple of years. Here the prices are 14kr (About 2 and a half dollar) per liter. (A gallon would be 10 dollars).
A 50 liter tank consumes 700kr per - say, 200 kilometers. A vehicle having gone 50 000 kilometers in it's lifetime (a lot less then normal, but speaking short-term) would use 178500 kr (or about 30 000 dollars) in it's lifetime.
5k or 30k - you decide. But I still get your basic economics point, however we live in a time where people are really concerned about the environment and are THIS desperate:

"Im no genious but isn't this right? I think that we are best of sticking with 'hybrids' Cool"

Maybe, maybe not - that's why I asked you to find flaws. To find out what is actually the best and simplest. Thanks.

P.s. "Im no genious" - for your age - 12 - you are quite brilliant despite being a perv.

Also I was just thinking... Places like Britain have tens of thousands (almost) km of Highway/Motorway! 1 day ago I went to Manchester to see some relatives! On the way back the guy in the car in front of us fell asleep or something, luckily he woke up and swiveled about the road. Fortunately there was no one on the second lane. If all cars had magnets on them, then if there was a car on the 2nd lane then it would be thumped into the barrier and would probably flip over to the other side, which would cause complete chaos! Also on the way to Manc there was a firetruck rushing through. It performed great manouvers trying to get through traffic. Again if the cars had this magnet system on them they would be flipped.

Im not sure how much weight it would add but I guess you could use radiation shields/blockers like on the train to mask the sides! Smile

Coming back to the tens of thousands (almost) km of Highway/Motorway! It would cost shitloads to put metal underneath the roadsurface.

The car MUST be built to suit the enviroment around it, else it will not work... Sad

I understand your dilemma, but if the weights stabilize the vehicles they would avoid collision in stead, reducing chances of crashes - not increasing them.

Yes I guess that you are right... Looking at this I think that you are taking the concept of having magnets on cars too far forward! Cars were not originally made from nothing but a concept. You could say that the first car (vehicle would be more correct) was a carrige pulled by a horsy Smile! In victorian times when they found the power of steam (or compressed air) they took that carrige and replaced what accelerated it with a motor...

So the morale is that you should slowly develop and advance. A good starting point would be the stabilization system, once all the flaws are figured out and cut/to a minimum then you could use the concept of magnets to accelerate the car. You should really start from scratch! If that works out then with lots more hard work we would have HOVA CARZ :O!
