It's been around for a while, it's not new.
However, since it's been around since about 2000, it is mostly bug-free once patched up.
If you are a graphic-fag you can improve the graphics considerably with 3rd party mods
It utilizes Dungeons&Dragons d20 game mecanics (the best type of game mecanics around to this day imho)
The single player campains are really nice for the lorefags, and in the last two expansions they were actually very fulfilling imo (I'm no lorefag)
If, however you're a PVP'er by nature, or you've played through the SP's and wanna try some multiplayer roleplaying. The online community is incredibly nice. There are game servers around still very much active still. And since all of these are run by the community, they add MOUNDS to the original game experience
I recommend it above all else.
Do not confuse it with Neverwinter Nights 2. which suffered from way too early release, and imo bad development technique. And as a result boggs down even high-end systems. Good idea, bad execution.
If you try to torrent nwn 1, you may have to search a while for cdkeys, but if you're lucky you might get some that you can use online
then you can play on any server, as long as there are none else on it with a conflicting key.
Oh, and it supports linux natively...
